In order to keep the information for Find-a-Grave memorials as ACCURATE and USEFUL as possible I request that edits to a memorial include supporting document for the information provided. Please transcribe source documents (birth, marriage, death registers or obituaries) that you are using to make the suggestion.

"Genealogy without documentation is mythology"

If there is already a photo of the headstone, do not add a second similar photo unless the original is of poor quality and the new photo is dramatically better. There is no point in having duplicate photos on a memorial as they use valuable, and limited, photo space.

Military ranks, added as name prefixes on memorials, are reserved for those who were killed in action, died on active duty or retired from the military. For all others who served, their rank will be shown in the inscription field of the memorial, if it is engraved on their headstone. Lest We Forget!!!

FAG Photo request includes the following: "Please include any plot or location information..." The number of people making hundreds (even thousands) of photo requests without plot locations is distressing. When a grave location is marked "unknown and unmarked" it is impossible to fullfill that request. Offloading research to photo volunteers is unfair and unwarranted.

A final resting place is a sacred space that friends and family members will visit for generations to come not only to grieve but also to honour and remember.

Each time I create a memorial I delight in thinking that it may someday provide valuable information to a genealogist or comfort to a loved one.

If FAMILY MEMBERS wish to have a memorial deleted I will do so, no questions asked.

CEMETERY RECORDS- for St Patrick's in Lethbridge & both Pincher Creek cemeteries were destroyed in the 1950s - separate incidents - water damage & fire. Records have been partially reconstructed from memory, newspaper obits/reports and funeral home records.
