Most of my maternal ancestors were pioneers of the USA. Some from Switzerland, England, but most Idaho, Utah, Colorado, Ohio, Iowa, Washington, Oregon, Indiana, Kentucky, Virginia, California, Michigan, pretty much all 50 states!

I am 2nd generation Canadian.

Smith, Daly, McDonald, Nixon, Haudenschild, Bohner, Crouch, Peck (Peake), and so many more.

My paternal ancestors are Russian Doukhobor. Names related are Negraiff (spelled many different ways), Terekhov, Terekoff, Terikoff, Ostoforoff (spelled different ways), Rebalkin, Konkin, Popoff, Chernoff, Maloff and so many more.

A lot of names were changed due to how they sounded to Canadian officials and employees. Many changed to a more Canadian spelling.
