Thanks to all out there who:

Plot info is essential to this website. You can't Findagrave without it. Also, it is essential to add it correctly. Use what the cemetery records show, and not what you want to abbreviate.

FINDAGRAVE is a COLLABORATIVE website; Collaboration is working with each other to do a task and to achieve shared goals. It is a recursive process where two or more people or organizations work together to realize shared goals.

Admin now checks for inactive members. If you are inactive for over a year, your memorials will be transferred to #8, findagrave admin. Then they are available for other, more active members to manage. This site pretty much requires that you participate. It's not such a great site for amassing your family. Use Ancestry.

How can I reach a member who doesn't have contact information on their profile page? If there isn't a contact method available, you may contact a member by selecting Suggest Edits on a memorial they manage. Scroll down and select 'Contact manager.' Send an email to the manager through this form. If you have reached out to a member, be sure to have a way they can respond to you.

Obituaries on Find a Grave Memorials:

I received the following from a Find A Grave Administrator. "Since the move to Ancestry and the new website, newspaper obituaries, death certificates, and other scanned documentation are allowed. We encourage members to move the images down to the bottom of the photo display so that they are not the first thing you see when viewing a memorial page."

Please do not post obituaries to my memorials as clippings, or suggest that I add a transcribed obituary in the bio section, UNLESS YOU INCLUDE THE SOURCE CITATION. Newspapers are sources and need to be identified the same as any other source. A proper citation for a newspaper includes: (1) The correct name of the newspaper as shown on the front page; (2) the location of the newspaper (no, just the Springfield Gazette [or something similar] is not sufficient as there is a Springfield in every state in the US); (3) the day and date of publication; (4) the edition, if any; (5) the page number; and (6) the column number. If you use newspapers.com, please be advised that the name of the newspaper and the page numbers given may be incorrect. For instance, all the various "Buffalo News" newspapers are lumped together on that website under the name "The Buffalo News." The editions are not indicated. The page numbers appear to be the "counts" for the number of pages scanned and often have nothing to do with the actual numbers printed on the page.

Please make an effort to crop newspaper clippings, etc., they just look nicer that way. Also, when adding info as DC, bc, obits, photos, etc, please send a note to the memorial manager letting them know you left info. Take pride in your work. Crop the pics; if they are too dark, it's not that hard to lighten them. Findagrave is a labor of love towards others who are searching for their family, and it blends in well with Ancestry. Showing up as hints. However, if there isn't any info as to dates, places, etc, it's pretty dang hard to get a hint when there is no info.

I am no longer managing memorials created by others and am focusing on adding memorials from official cemetery records. This way, I can confirm that everyone is added and not just those who have a marker. There is nothing wrong with adding info that a grave is unmarked.

For all of the outside complainers posting on the internet about findagrave info not being correct: What do you expect? It's genealogy. It's all based on sourcing, not what gggrandma said, but what the legal paperwork says. Why are some men's year of birth off by a year? Because they lied to join the military in World War I and World War II. I have seen the cemetery record, death cert, tombstone, and obit all have different dates. It's not all that unusual. This is the reason why your source of information is important.
