The owner of Woodlawn Memorial Park (Compton) will not allow unescorted visitors on the grounds. I will continue with the photography project that was started years ago, with the owner's consent. Sorry, no more photo requests.

PLEASE DO NOT SUBMIT BIOGRAPHICAL INFORMATION IN LIST FORMAT. A well-written bio is preferred. Information in lists can be found by anyone on FamilySearch. We can do better than that. A bio is a life story, not a list of names and dates, etc.

Regarding transfers, if you are not related within the guidelines for required transfers, please submit Edits and biographies (please, not in list format). I am happy to add information. If you have documents and photos, you do not need to ask; please add them.

I will usually not bother to contact you through one of your memorials if you have your messages disabled. If you have your messages disabled and send me a question, or a questionable Edit, I probably won't respond.

To explain my lopsided number of memorials (managed vs. added): I took over approximately 25,000 from Chris Mills, at his request. I then took over about 25,000 from WMP, at her request. I serve on the Board of the non-profit, One Section At A Time as the Archivist for Woodlawn Memorial Park in Compton, CA. For Edits submitted on memorials at Woodlawn, I will consult first with the interment records before accepting.

My main focus is on documenting as many burial locations as possible.

I wish folks would stop whining about "numbers games". I'm getting tired of hearing it. Once you see how addictive graving can be, you may be out there adding a lot of memorials, too. This isn't a game. It's a sacrifice of time and a service to others, now and in the future.

Findagrave says that if you cannot locate the burial, this is probably not the place for you to create a memorial. I agree and will not usually link to unknown burials. Do your research and find the location. Some locations will never be found and so they belong on sites like Ancestry or FamilySearch. Researchers will be able to find them there. After all, the primary purpose of this site is to FIND a grave. Everything else is just extra.
