The British Columbia Genealogical Society has been assisting its members in researching and preserving their own and British Columbia, Canada's genealogical heritage since 1971. Over the many years, members of the Society have been actively documenting cemeteries throughout the Province as part of our mission, "dedicated to discovery, collection, preservation and access to family history research."

In the early days of the BCGS, volunteers transcribed headstones in BC cemeteries and compiled them into booklets as a resource for genealogists. We are working to add the information we have these booklets to existing memorials on Find a Grave. This explains why a suggestion of a gravestone inscription may be made without a photo.

We are volunteers doing our best to contribute to this wonderful site, so please be courteous. Patronizing or impolite suggestions, harassment and/or demands are not tolerated and we will not respond. These will be reported to Find a Grave Community Support. (See rule B. in Find a Grave Community Rules.)

Please note that Find a Grave Guidelines now have a note that memorial managers have the responsibility to research the edits that are sent by 'Suggest Edits' or 'Suggest other Corrections', and that edits should be accepted or declined according to the manager's research or the research that is sent in. It would help us greatly with time spent on verification if you would kindly send in your sources in the 'Notes'. If your edit is declined, we will endeavor to provide rationale. Thanks for your consideration and understanding.
