Born in Merrickville Ontario and raised in Sudbury he has spent most of his life in the Ottawa area. He has a special concern for the condition of the headstones belonging to our military vets.
In addition he has a passion is to find abandoned cemeteries and teaching others the correct methods of cleaning a tombstone. The rule is if in doubt about a product ...DON'T USE IT!
Most of his spare time now is spent cleaning tombstones with a product called D/2. He uses the 'spray and walk away' method. A small handled soft bristled brush can gently get rid of the 'heavy' stuff.
Once clean, he doesn't recommend using anything other than a simple wash with water once a year or so. Questions always welcome.
He has discovered the many vets have no living relatives and their stones can be pretty messed up.
If they need more than cleaning like repairs he reports these needs to the Cdn V.A.
Best of all he stays on the VAs case till the stone is looked after.
