I am a retired Canadian Ambassador, based in Ottawa, Canada, with a passion for genealogy. I have documented thousands of members of my family tree and have benefitted from the generosity of Find A Grave photographers who have volunteered their time to record the graves of many of my ancestors.

Seven years ago, when I joined Find A Grave, I was surprised that relatively few of the headstones of veterans buried in our National Military Cemeteries in Ottawa were photographed and available online. As a result, I began to photograph each headstone and where needed, create a memorial to each member of the Canadian military buried in Beechwood and Notre Dame cemeteries.

Over time, what I call "The Veterans Project" was born, as a virtual circle of interested people came together to fill in the blanks on each memorial. Today the headstones of over 8,000 military members together with the family members identified on their headstones, have been photographed and memorials respectfully created.

This work which has been undertaken by so many with humble and positive intentions provides so much information for family members, genealogists, students and historians.

Before me have come many others whose work I am complementing and who continue to add to the memorials I and others have created. We are a virtual team honouring those who served Canada so well.
