Hi, I'm Mark, a genealogist with over 30 years of experience. I specialize in African American family history and run HistoricalEquity.com — a grassroots project focused on preserving and documenting forgotten Black cemeteries across the United States.

This work is about more than names and dates — it's about restoring dignity to the stories that were erased or overlooked. Many Black families face unique challenges in tracing their ancestry due to incomplete records, unmarked graves, and systemic gaps in history. That's where we come in.

I'm here on Find a Grave to help locate, document, and photograph African American burial sites, especially in neglected or rural cemeteries. I also collaborate with volunteers to connect fragmented family trees and honor those who came before us.
