I had known about FindAGrave.com a few years after my Dad passed away after finding his memorial on the platform. I was fascinated by it and was interested in participating, but life got in the way. So fast forward to September 2025 and my 50th Class Reunion when I learned that more than 100 of my classmates had passed away since graduation. After seeing a few memorial pages on Facebook honoring deceased classmates, I wanted to do the same for my departed classmates and while conducting research, I found myself using this website to find important information on my classmates. 

My primary focus is to add a GPS position to each grave so a descendant will be able to easily locate their ancestor. Therefore, I tend to focus on cemeteries with low percentages of photos/GPS. I am not sure how accurate the GPS data is in pinpointing a memorial, but I believe it will get you within 10 to 50 feet, hence, I am more focused on positioning and making sure that memorials are complete with all the information that I can find on a decedent. I also survey the cemetery to ensure that I include any new graves or headstones in an effort to bring the cemetery up-to-date with respect to occupants.

I have also subscribed to ancestry.com and newspapers.com to assist me in the process of verifying and updating information with respect to memorials. This process often involves a lot of suggested edits and I apologize in advance for any annoyance it may cause managers. Most of the time, the edits are additional information as a result of a funeral home marker being replaced with a headstone.

Here is some brief information about me:

Born in Chester, South Carolina, I have resided in the Atlanta metro area for the past 25 years. I graduated from high school in 1975 and attended the University of South Carolina where I obtained a B.S. Degree in Marine Science.

My professional career began with the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA), as a Commissioned Officer with the NOAA Corps, where I served aboard two NOAA Ships from 1981 through 1987 conducting hydrographic surveys, oceanographic research and other marine operations in U.S. territorial waters, to include the Great Lakes, Icy Straits, Alaska, and St. Croix, U.S. Virgin Islands—to name a few locations, in furtherance of NOAA's mission.

In July 1987, I left the position with the NOAA Corps to accept the position of Special Agent with the FBI, where I served more than 23 years working mainly white-collar crime investigations in four major cities or field divisions. I also served five of those 23 years as a Supervisory Special Agent at the FBI Laboratory in Washington, D.C., as an examiner who conducted exams and testified as an expert in Court.

One of my ancillary duties as an FBI Agent was serving as a member/leader of the Evidence Response Team in two major cities. As such, I was the lead crime scene investigator on several notable investigations.
