I began photographing tombstones, researching cemeteries, and learning how our local history inter-relates in 2010.
Our family research project includes a brother & sister-in-law who have done fairly extensive work on our family lines including MITCHELL, POWELL, WORKMAN, PRUITT, CHAPMAN, HOYLE, REINHARDT, RITCHIE, WALKER and others (plus spelling variations of all of these).
My ancestors were located mostly in VALE-HENRY-CASAR-MORGANTON areas. The following North Carolina cemeteries are among my favorites: PISGAH BAPTIST, TRINITY LUTHERAN, PLATEAU METHODIST, SARDIS LUTHERAN, PREWIT FAMILY CEMETARY, ARNEY-near Penelope Church, MOUNT HOME BAPTIST, Morganton; BETHEL METHODIST, Morganton, MT GILEAD BAPTIST-Burke County and the OLD CHAPMAN Cemetery, near South Mountains-Burke County. (PS: NEWBERRY PREWIT was my GGGF and is buried at PISGAH BAPTIST Church-Casar. He donated land to help this church become established and was a frequent Pastor there also).
I'm interested in connecting with unknown relatives too!
