Find a Grave states that I can share my personal interests on my profile:

Genealogy and research of my bloodline family is my interest. I like to share stories that I was told by my ancestors about my family history and memories; passed down from one generation to another.

I have learned in this lifetime that documenting a person's life is probably one of the most important things you can do, for yourself and for them. Gather as much information as you can about a person and get it into their Find A Grave Memorial for future generations.

Family memories cannot be shared from a DNA test nor does DNA make you part of a family.

"Growing Up Presley" cannot be completed with a DNA test. Having been raised in a Presley home by Presley family members is the only way I know to grow up Presley.

As a descendant of original Mississippi families, I would like to confirm that I am a blood Presley, descended through my mother, a Tupelo, Mississippi born with the legal name PRESLEY. My maternal grandparents, Trannie Eackford PRESLEY and Ethel PRESLEY nee McCoy are from Tupelo, Lee County, and Cherry Creek, Ecru, Pontotoc County, Mississippi. My maternal great grandparents; Noah Edward PRESLEY and Susan Izora PRESLEY, nee Griffin, were East Tupelo, Lee County, Mississippi residents for most of their lives. Noah served as an elected official for Tupelo, Lee County, Mississippi. I have proof in my Presley family documentation that is also available to the general public if you choose to order those documents; marriage licenses, school records, birth certificates, etc.

My legal name is Suzanne Ethelia PRESLEY. I have no other legal names. I use my Mother's legal maiden name PRESLEY and the PRESLEY family name since I was raised by and in the home of Eack and Ethel Presley, as a Presley, just as Eack was raised in the home of Noah and Susan Presley, as a Presley. Eack and Ethel Presley were my legal guardians for 17 of the 18 minor years of youth, growth and development. My name was not changed to Presley after a divorce, which is another Tupelo area myth. Legal guardianship would raise my legal relationship to Eack and Ethel Presley as parents, thus raising all great aunts and uncles to aunts and uncles, cousins to first cousins.

My relatives that visited our home and we visited their homes were Presley, Griffin, McCord, McCoy, Pounders, Sing and Jones. We were never visited by DNA. Our loving family relationships were not made of DNA, but familial interaction.

If you see my legal name on a tree, then question it. I do not use trees nor authorize others to use my family members in trees, especially with incorrect legal names. My direct lineage uses the legal last name PRESLEY.

The most influential people during my childhood were my grandparents and my great grandparents, Noah Edward Presley, d.1969 and Sarah Elizabeth "Sallie" McCoy nee McCord, d.1972. I was so fortunate to have living great grandparents and all four of my grandparents. Noah died when I was 7 and Sallie died when I was 9, so I was old enough to have fond memories of time well spent.

A true Presley does not set out to prove that they are a Presley, however, a true Presley has the responsibility to try to keep historical facts correct. The Presley family has always been conservative and respectful of others, quiet and reserved, not boastful or arrogant, of being a Presley.

Being a Presley has always been a bit tricky; it is a "blessing and a curse". Presley's are private people in the public eye. Attacks on my immediate family and lineage are imminent, as well as, rumors and false DNA tests which can be problematic in popular US families.

When I set out to research, and document publicly for future generations of my descendants, the family members that raised me, the only family I know, it never entered my mind that any researcher would try to besmirch me and my family by trying to prove I am not a member of the Presley family, in order to advance their cause, whatever that may be.

If I write you and ask you to edit information, you can believe that if by rare chance, the information was not in my family history documentation or able to be recreated by the city, county, or state of Mississippi records, I would not ask for corrections. It is my goal in this lifetime to get the "Presley story" straight and keep it that way. Requests for edits is not a personal challenge to the contributors.

Please note that Rosella Presley was never married to John Henry Wallace or John Wallace. There is no John Wallace related to my Presley ancestors. This is a myth. John Wallace was married to a non-Presley. Rosella was already a widow when John Henry Wallace died. Please do not request that I add John Wallace as the father to multiple Presley memorials, as this would be incorrect. I will always decline the John Wallace requests.

Obituaries are not always correct with the information given by a grief stricken relative trying to remember details. Posting obituaries is a great idea, however, adding legal family information such as birth, death and marriage records gives more accurate family information than an obituary might give.

I was born into the Presley family and the Presley family raised me, and they are the only family I have ever known. The Presley family IS my family as are all the memories that come with being in the Presley family for the duration of my childhood. I make no apologies for being a Presley and a valid relative of the Presley family regardless of myths about my reality.

The Presley name has been anglicized from the German spelling of Bressler, Breslau, Braslau, Pressler, Presler, Pressley, and finally, the bloodline that I fall under is Presley. Breslau is the German and English name used until 1945 for the town of Wroclaw in Poland. If you are doing research, it may help to add variants of the Presley name. The name "Presley" has not been documented in court records until 1776 in Kershaw County. Prior to 1776, the name was Pressler. Beginning in the mid 1800's, women of Scottish decent used their maiden names when married and passed their maiden names to their children. This is true of the Presley family and continues today. There is not and never will be a hyphen (-) before Presley, another Scottish tradition. If you see "dash -Presley", this is not the Presley family lineage that I descend from or am related to.

Historical Note:

In August 1977, Uncle Cal came to Tennessee, picked us up at our house and drove us all to Memphis where Elvis lay in repose. Uncle Cal had a "Presley Cadillac" and in the car that day was Cal Presley, Eack Presley, Donna Jo Pritchett Presley, Suzanne E Presley, Dr. Jerry Edward Presley and Mildred Delores "MD" Powell. Just as we drove into Covington the car broke down. The car went into the shop on one side of 51South and the people went into the dairy bar on the other side of 51South. We all had refreshments, the car was repaired and off we went to Memphis. Once at Graceland, we parked across the street from the house. A family friend came and got us and escorted us across the street into the gates of Graceland, up the left hand side of the circle drive and into the back kitchen door. Family and friends were gathered in the back of the house, Elvis was at the front door area in the foyer. Priscilla and Lisa Marie were in the kitchen when I arrived.
