As older Gravers are passing away, I've been taking management of many of their memorials, as well as memorials for people who have gone inactive. Many of these have errors. Please send your edit to correct this without getting snarky. There is no reason to get snippy about an error in a memorial. It happens to all of us, whether we created it or not.

I AM NOT A MEMORIAL HOARDER.

I don't believe in Find A Grave's transfer guidelines. I am pretty lenient when it comes to transfers, so ask and you may receive. If I send an edit and you are not a relative, I'm more than willing to take over management of the memorial if you wish. I've passed on many of the memorials that I have both created and taken management of to closer relations and will continue to do so.

Edits: I'm not a tyrant with them, but if I ask for proof and do not receive it within 48 hours your edit will be declined.

If you post an obit to any memorial, please leave the name, location and date of the newspaper.

Unknown Burials: EVERYONE DESERVES A MEMORIAL. I usually only make them if I can link them with a parent/parents to try to avoid duplicates. Some people are ok with that, some try to be the Find A Grave police and throw a fit about it. If you find an actual burial location and merge it with my unknown, I won't yell at you. I've had people yell at me via email when their unknown memorial was merged with my memorial with a location.

If I have added a photo of a funeral home marker to a memorial and you later add a photo of the stone, please let me know and I will remove the photo of the funeral home marker.

I started out on Find A Grave only creating memorials for my relations. A few years ago, I started doing them daily for the areas my family is from, in search of relations that I didn't know about, and from doing this I have found many relations and made many connections that I was unable to do previously.

I also do this because I enjoy it. My other half says I care more about the dead than the living, which is kind of true because these days I'm pretty much happy just to hide out a home and avoid people.

My mother's family is from the North Side (old Allegheny City) in Pittsburgh, Pa. My main lines are Simon (my grandfather) and Strater (my grandmother). I unfortunately do not know much about this side. My Strater Great Grandparents were immigrants from Lithuania. My Simon line goes back a few generations in the city of Pittsburgh.

My father's side of the family (which is 99% of my family tree) is mostly based in Armstrong County, Pa. My main lines are:

Stolen from another Find a Graver, because I feel the same way: I believe that EVERYONE deserves to be remembered, long after their relatives that were around them in life have passed away and their memory kind of, just gets lost. That is why I love and respect this site, because we can make a record of someone that may have been forgotten, or their burial site was unknown, their ashes lost or their stone is broke, deteriorated or unreadable. Wouldn't YOU want to be remembered? I know I would.
