Hi there, I've been volunteering for Find a Grave since 2014 - I love connecting with other volunteers and I'm in awe of those who dedicate so much of their time to creating and taking care of memorials.

MY PHILOSOPHIES ON MEMORIALS

1: memorials should ideally be managed by family members. My goal is to manage zero memorials by the time I finish up on the site. I don't mind if it's your 10 x great grandparent or 6 x great grand aunt, I will happily transfer the memorial to you as it will be in great hands :) In the meantime, I'm honoured to be a temporary caretaker of your loved one.

2: where multiple family members are managing memorials of ancestors, the most direct line family members should manage the memorials. They are the most closely related, and have the closest connection. If you are more closely related to a shared ancestor, I will happily transfer the memorial to you.

MEMORIAL PHOTOS

If you would like to use grave photos for your trees - go for it. I don't care about acknowledgement. Just please don't use them for other Grave websites such as Billion Graves or Australian Cemeteries Index.

In saying that, I will always credit the source for other Find a Grave members who upload photos - personally I'm just happy people can access photos of their ancestors' graves.
