"Practical Religion"

A well known bishop relates that while on a visit to the south, he was in a small country town, where owing to the scarcity of good servants, most of the ladies preferrerd to do their own work.

He was awakened quite early by the tones of a clear soprano voice singing "Nearer My God to Thee." As the bishop lay in bed, he meditated upon the piety the hostess must posess which enabled her to go about her tasks early in the morning singing such a noble hymn.

At breakfast he spoke to her about it, and told her how pleased he was.

"Oh, law," she replied. "That's the hymn I boil the eggs by; three verses for soft, and five for hard." ---Harper's

Well, there are several ways Miriam.

You might chloroform him about six-o-clock in the morning and renew the anesethetic during the day until midnight.

Or, you might give him $50 and tell him to run down to Boston and enjoy himself.

Or, you might row him out to the Sound early in the morning and drown him. All these plans are practicable, but the last one the most efficient and inexpensive. Especially if he is insured.
