My paternal grandparents did a lot of genealogy work back when you had to travel to obtain most of the information and/or write a lot of letters. They left our family and a lot of families a lot richer. I now have the records Alma Sophie Lorch Fiscus and Jacob Joseph Aloysius Fiscus left. If anyone has made use of what has been referred to as "The Fiscus Papers" you have been touched by their work. They worked on genealogy of Michael Scheidemantel (We have had a yearly reunion since 1907),Fiscus, Lorch, and they had started on Gunsallus. I am working to place information and pictures on Find A Grave and Ancestry. I am trying to make sure the information and whatever I am able to find to add to it will never be lost to future generations. Having lost a granddaughter, Clara Dawn Crupe, and a son, Russell Lee Crupe Jr., I understand the importance of keeping memories alive. I am also honoring our veterans (our son was in Iraq and lost his battle with PTSD) by trying to make sure their information is honored. Adding a poem I wrote when I woke in the middle of the night August 4, 2012:

You are now at your heavenly rest,
Now we are left to try and do our best...
to give each other some comfort
as we miss your smiling face today.
God gave us a comforter,
he is the Holy Spirit, in the form of a dove.
We know that when he sent us the Holy Spirit, it is his true love.
God sent us the gentle dove to let us know we are not alone as we grieve,
He shields us and embraces us with each hug and caring touch that we receive.
God carries us now while we are weak in the knees,
and He lifts us up as on Eagles wings as we wipe away tears
and look the future to see.
Take what he has taught us well as to how to love one another...
Let us carry on by showing more love to our sister and our brother.
Let others know you are hurting, let others know you care.
For a hug is God's way of introduction that lets even strangers share.

If I filled a photo request for you I would appreciate if you would list who it was with their memorial no., and which cemetery and even telling where you live gives me an idea of how far this information is traveling.

Even when you don't know if someone will continue, continue! I remember photos being pulled out by my grandparents, and I remember my Dad pulling out pictures to makes paper copies at home and dragging boxes of pictures to reunions over the years. They did not know I would be trying to find those stories that I heard and knew they wrote down over the years...that I would be telling those stories and many others I uncovered. Telling those stories to friends, relatives and strangers. Encouraging others to do the same with their families. I told stories at antique glass clubs, at an antique show, at an Antique Bottle and Glass club, and our family reunion. I added to other relatives stories by continuing to add things on Ancestry, Family Search, Wiki tree, Findagrave and others. Occasionally, I will hear someone discussing genealogy and I will try to give them a tip or two. I am so thankful for all they did and gathered! If only my grandparents knew what they started...
