McCaskey, Hoffman, Clark, Buttolph families. Buttolph descending from Thomas Buttolph, who came to Boston in 1635 on the Ship of Abigail with his wife Ann. Thomas worked as a leather-dresser. Present-day Irving St was initially called Buttolph Street until the mid-19th Century, originally derived from Thomas' surname.
