As Former President of the Lois "DeGraff Homestead" which is Located in Stettler County Alberta (#6) I am very keen on sourcing the correct genealogical aspects and making sure all descendants have free access either here or online for free elsewhere.

The Homestead is where my Grandmother D. DeGraff-Lowry lived a great portion of her life and my Great Grandmother Lucy Reiken-DeGraff raised her children on her own after the passing of her husband Herbert. The 4 bedroom home that end up on the property was the one that my Great Grandfather William T. Lowry had built for Lucy after the original was destroyed in a fire. William's son R. Lowry married Lucy's daughter, D. DeGraff; their son is one of my Parents.

The first thing I would like to share is the importance of Choosing Love. This platform, is ours as a world family nothing is "yours" here. There are so many descendants that the idea of ownership just becomes "ugly". I believe it is important to help one another sort out where our loved ones are and find family and connections on the way.

If I have sent info to you on a profile you manage it's because they are probably an ancestor to me and the branches in my family reach very far! If you wish to transfer a profile to me, that will graciously be accepted and the promise is, that I will take good care of them and make sure that many years down the road, the great great great's can read about their lineage.

I must quote The Standard in Genealogy for a Citation because I understand the frustration of Amateur Genealogy.

The standards are :

Website citations: authors, article, and publication title where appropriate, AS WELL AS those URL's, and a date when the site was accessed. (that means a link to a website page!)

It seems that FaG says you can not post other websites links, (difficult to follow the Standard if that is forbidden). I do personally try to include links to sources to share with you, the PM, I send it in the NOTES section if possible. I will also post images of records as well. I do ask that you Please don't tell me to transcribe it links! You as a PM need to process it, as FaG states; "the manager ought to accept or decline the update according to their research or the research that is sent". Do your part too. If its been found for you open the source or link and look at it.

Also, I have a pet peeve about scooping images for other profiles. Please ask all photographer's to place their image where it needs to go, don't just copy paste it (unless they said it's okay), but still, credit is deserved where credit is due. That's a lot of ground work they are doing.

Most of the Memorials managed under this account are family. Yet, I really feel we are all cousins! If you are related, please do message! If there are some profiles I have that you are interested in and there is no relation to, I am happy to transfer the memorial to you, it's no problem, because that is the nature of the endeavour.

My boundary is this: Treat me with kindness, and I will bend over backward to assist you in your searching. Any other behaviour will not be tolerated, so if you think you might be verbally throwing up in my direction, think twice because it looks pathetic and I would feel very sorry for your children. My patience for disrespect is very low.
