Service acronyms & rank:

• I spell out U.S. medal, rank and service acronyms in the inscription field: I believe it is important to know the reference. Further, while Air Force, Army, and Marine Corps rank abbreviations tend to be consistent, Coast Guard and Navy ratings seem infinite :).

• I rarely include military rank in memorial names (unless deceased while serving, etc.). That may be a bit of a surprise given my veteran status: I do not believe many of us used our rank once we separated from service. I view fellow vets as more than their rank, and prefer to let their name stand alone.
