Although I am located in central Ohio, I maintain close ties to my Kentucky ancestry. On my paternal side, I am especially interested in the migration of Maryland Catholics to Kentucky in the early 19th century. The surnames of interest include Boarman, Jarboe, Alvey, Edelen, Mudd, Grant, Clemons, Mattingly, Pierce, Collard, Horrell and Rhoads. I had the great pleasure to correspond frequently with the late Graver Bob Alvey and my personal ancestral database is strongly built on a foundation he laid.
With respect to my Grant line, I have had a y chromosome test that shows the Grant line came to the United States from the Derbyshire region of England and not from Scotland. The Alvey family is believed to be from the same general area of England.
On my maternal side, I am very interested in the history of the Morgan family in Pennsylvania, West Virginia and Kentucky.
