Beloved husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather, passed away on January 9, 2017, in Falls Church, VA. He is survived by his wife of 64 years, two sons, three daughters, 15 grandchildren, six great-grandchildren and by his sister. Sid was born on August 20, 1924 in Monroe, LA. He was a WWII combat veteran, serving on the USS Johnnie Hutchins (DE 360) and other ships afterwards. Foreign duty stations included the Philippines, Taiwan and Vietnam. Sid retired from the U.S. Navy as a Lt. Commander in 1970. He then worked as a public information officer for the USDA until his retirement in 1987. Sid loved cheering for LSU, grilling, fishing and keeping fit. He will be sorely missed. Visitation with the family will be held at Murphy Funeral Home, 1102 West Broad St., Falls Church, on Friday, January 13, 2017 from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. The funeral Mass will be held at St. James Catholic Church, 103 N. Spring St., Falls Church, on January 14, 2017 at 10 a.m. Interment will take place at Arlington National Cemetery at a later date.
