Began this "hobby" in the old days...a Genealogy course at a local community college, lots and lots of running reels of microfilm at the LDS family research libraries, a few trips to Salt Lake City, Ft. Wayne, and a few to Washington, DC. Coughed my way out of More than a few dusty courthouse basements!

Have deep, deep roots in this country, have taken machete to weeds and overgrowth in more than a few musty molding graveyards, to glean away precious headstones and memorials.

On DNA: I have been working with DNA since 2005, when I enrolled in a National Geographic Human Migration Study.

The study was on 'deep' DNA.....they were starting to build an 'Out of Africa' human migration tree...the goal was to determine where your ancestors were 20,000- 30,000 years ago.

Well......I had these stories from my mother's grandmother, so... :)

My Maternal DNA was originally grouped and Haplotyped to the North Eastern Algonquin-speaking tribes of present day Canada. After considerable time, as the Migration Study database filled and This Continents' Migration could be determined (sometime in 2013....), I got a message from a gentleman who had put his grandmothers DNA in another database. He referred to her as 'same tribe as Pocahontas'. By then, the Migration Study was picking up participants who, like me, knew that our colonial and pre-colonial ancestors were from the Chesapeake Bay area, not Canada,

So, the Migration Study was Clearly Useful for the peoples of This Continent. :)
