What inspires me most, is to hear how the Gravestones/Marker has led to a discovery in your family tree. If I have fulfilled your request, I have no idea who the request was for after it was uploaded, so put that in messages please.

The Garden of No Distant place:

Within this compartment are 4 little glass rooms, containing Memorial Books. Each room is for a season. In each room are locked glass cabinets displaying the 3 books for each month of the season. These can only be opened by the lovely garden staff using white gloves. Hence I wait until I have 10 - 20 before interrupting them from their work.

The ashes can be scattered in the GNDP, or anywhere in Springvale, or be collected from the cemetery by family. Alternatively they can be placed in urns in Vaults, which are basically underground holes in the ground covered by grass. These cannot be accessed and few people know the exact locations. Not all people whose ashes are scattered have entries in the GNDP, but many do, Check out https://www.smct.org.au/deceased-search to make sure an entry hasn't been made.

Sometimes photos don't come out well, if you need a better picture, within reason, just ask. But the plaque might be gone by the time you ask.

Sometimes what is uploaded is from a crop of a larger section of a huge wall so the pictures aren't the best, but better than nothing. Taking each plaque individually, in case someone might want it, is in my opinion a waste of time. There are over half a million burials in Springvale and many have an expiry date, so will be removed and gone forever.

Each request I claim can take between 10 - 60 minutes of my time to fulfill properly. Please consider that before asking for every name in the cemetery. It is not just a few clicks and uploading, there is time taken to do the whole process, that unless you do many multiple claims you would not understand. .

I also like it when I know the people putting in requests are doing their bit, by doing requests in their area.
