I like to enter memorials from the VA database. While I'm going through them I find some memorials on FG with plot information that aren't listed in the VA database. I try to find them many different ways--often it is a misspelling. Sometimes it is a spouse is who interred elsewhere, but someone has entered the same plot information as the previously departed spouse. Sometimes I can't find anything and I request a photo.

I'm not sure how this happens. Some FG contributors enter MANY, many memorials and I know typos and errors are made. I think some people have access to burial schedules that may change, resulting in bad information.

Find a Grave can be a funny website. There seems to be a tendency to create memorials at all costs, as fast as possible--even if names, dates, and burial locations are wrong. When I suggest "burial details unknown" it is very often declined. I try to make corrections when I find them, merge duplicate memorials, and create new ones based on good information--I know, the VA database can be wrong, too.
