As my oldest friends can attest, I have been a "Mausoleum Maniac" for more than four decades, eagerly traipsing cemeteries in search of the forgotten. I'm thankful to be part of a community that finds joy in respectfully memorializing these disintegrating markers of our conjoined past.
Feel free to use any photos or information that I have provided publicly in FindAGrave (or Ancestry). I just ask that you double-check the accuracy before re-posting. I would rather be humbled by an honest correction than be responsible for propagating a prideful inaccuracy.
I occasionally become the temporary manager of unrelated unmanaged memorials that I've stumbled upon in my various areas of research. I have no desire to be a collector of memorials and am in no competition to amass great numbers. It is more important to me for someone who cares for and/or has connection to a person to manage their memorial. Please don't hesitate to reach out with your reasons for wanting to manage them, even if you are unrelated to them. If I have no personal connection, relation, and/or interest, I will gladly transfer.
My main focus is trying to link my many family members' memorials using the amazing genealogy records compiled over decades by my oldest living relative, Albert Robert Guensch Sr. (Update: Sadly, he passed away in August 2025.) With his express permission, I will be sharing excerpts of his work and photos in the coming years.
As time allows, I am reaching out to the wonderful people who have created memorials for my family members. Whenever possible, I may request to transfer a memorial's management from an unrelated person. If this occurs, I mean no disrespect to the creator. If I reach out to someone who ends up being more closely related than me, please just let me know of your connection (rather than just ignoring me). Thank you to all the creators and managers of these memorials!
I also feel a humbling respect whenever I am able to reconnect the family relationships for individual memorials that have sat isolated for years. Whether I know them personally or not, it is always an honor to participate in their final reunion.
