Please note: I don't link to Burials Unknown.

Please remember, military protocol states that once a person has resigned their rank when leaving the service, we do not use their service rank on a memorial. The only people who retain their service rank on a memorial are those who die while in service and retired military. Please use the veteran's icon now provided for that. The military grave stones do not list their old rank before their name because they're no longer active duty. Their rank is listed below their name. Military retirees and soldiers who died in service are listed with rank before name.

When I'm Gone

When I come to the end of my journey and I travel my last weary mile, just forget if you can, that I ever frowned and remember only the smile. Forget unkind words that I've spoken; remember some good that I've done, forget that I ever had heartache and remember that I've had lots of fun.

Forget that I've stumbled and blundered and sometimes fell by the way. Remember I've fought some hard battles, and won at the close of the day.

Then forget to grieve for my going, I would not have you sad for a day, but in summer just gather some flowers, and remember the place where I lay.

And come in the shade of the evening, when the sun paints the sky in the west.

Stand for a few moments beside me.

And remember only my best.
