If you do not allow messaging through FAG, then do not message me. If I cannot reply to you, your message will be deleted and any action you request will also be deleted. We should all be on here to help each other and assist families with finding their loved ones.

Using a period after an initial -- FAG Help says "Yes". See this:

A period should be used after an abbreviated name, for example a middle initial.

Transfer requests may be denied due to the following:

--deceased is a relative of mine or my wife

--being dishonest about your relationship to deceased

--demanding transfer be made (you know who you are)

--rudeness (again, you know who you are)

-----Simply having someone in your family tree is not grounds for a management transfer request. With hundreds of thousands of contributors, we have many overlapping family trees and it would be impossible for all contributors to manage their entire tree. (Borrowed from another contributor)

To me, Find-A-Grave is a starting point for connecting all those who have gone before us. I do not like to "hit send" until I have completed as much as I can with all their immediate relatives: parents, siblings, spouses, children, etc.

My stance on some controversial FAG practices:

• I sometimes add pre-need markers. I have personally seen that when you don't add them and they do eventually pass away, many times the memorial manager doesn't notice the date of death or maybe it isn't ever added.

• Regarding "unknown burials"...if I use this feature, it means I have searched and not found their resting place. But, I feel the deceased should be documented somehow in order to link parents and siblings.

• Regarding obits in the bio section...an obituary is literally a public announcement of a death and a record of the person's life and family members. It should be on their virtual memorial.
