08/06/26 Happy Anniversary Cecil, it's our 51st year. It's been almost 4 months since he left. I would like to thank you all for the prayers and the support you have given me. All the tokens you have put on my husbands memorial and my family they do not go unnoticed.

My name is Theresa Hernandez White. My brother Fermin Hernandez,

who passed May 13, 2015, discovered this site in 2002 and sent it to me. He knew I loved genealogy and cemeteries .

I have found many of my ancestors here on Find a Grave.

A cemetery is a history of people - a perpetual record of yesterday and a sanctuary of peace and quiet today.

A Cemetery exists because every life is worth loving and remembering - always.

A Cemetery to see the history who once lived.

A Cemetery to honor, respect,.... because they are someone's grandparents ,father, mother, brother, sister, spouse, friend or loved one's. I do not want anyone to be forgotten.

THE RECORDING OF A CEMETERY

Today we walked where others walked On a lonely, windswept hill; Today we talked where other cried For Loved Ones whose lives are stilled.

Today our hearts were touched By graves of tiny babies; Snatched from the arms of loving kin, In the heartbreak of the ages.

Today we saw where the grandparents lay In the last sleep of their time; Lying under the trees and clouds - Their beds kissed by the sun and wind.

Today we wondered about an unmarked spot; Who lies beneath this hollowed ground? Was it a babe, child, young or old? No indication could be found.

Today we saw where Mom and Dad lay. We had been here once before On a day we'd all like to forget, But will remember forever more.

Today we recorded for kith and kin The graves of ancestors past; To be preserved for generations hence, A record we hope will last.

Cherish it, my friend; preserve it, my friend, For stones sometimes crumble to dust And generations of folks yet to come Will be grateful for your trust.

"The Dash" by Linda Ellis

I read of a man who stood to speak

at the funeral of a friend

He referred to the dates on the tombstone

from the beginning...to the end.

He noted that first came the date of birth

and spoke the following date with tears,

but he said what mattered most of all

was the dash between those years.

For that dash represents all the time

that they spent alive on earth.

And now only those who loved them

know what that little line is worth.

For it matters not, how much we own --

the cars...the house...the cash.

What matters is how we live and love

and how we spend our dash.

So, think about this long and hard.

Are there things you'd like to change?

For you never know how much time is left

that can still be rearranged.

If we could just slow down enough

to consider what's true and real,

and always try to understand

the way other people feel.

And be less quick to anger

and show appreciation more,

and love the people in our lives

like we've never loved before.

If we treat each other with respect

and more often wear a smile,

remembering this special dash

might only last a little while.

So, when your eulogy is being read

with your life's actions to rehash,

would you be proud of the things they say

about how you spent YOUR dash?
