VETERAN TAG The Veteran tag was created so members could identify or search for people who served in the military. However, using the word "veteran" for this purpose ignited the debate of "What is a veteran?" Some countries do not consider those who died in service (aka war dead) as veterans, so some members feel the Veteran tag should not be used on war dead memorials. But the definition of veteran is not the point here. The Veteran tag is just a search tool. It makes people who served in the military easy to find. Using this tool in the way it is intended will achieve the best results.

PHOTO REQUESTS The mission of Find A Grave is "to find, record and present final disposition information as a virtual cemetery experience." It's not about reproducing long lists of people with unknown disposition or how many newspaper clippings you can add. It's not about adding census records, marriage records, military records or obituaries. It's not even about linking all the family members, although the linking feature is a great perk! It's about final disposition. The other things can be useful but they're not necessary to fulfill the mission. But a marker photo? A marker photo (grave, cenotaph or monument panel) is evidence of final disposition. So I request marker photos on all memorials I create and/or manage.
