A cemetery is not just a place to bury the dead. It should be a sacred place for quiet reflection, peace, tranquility, honor, and remembrance. It is a history of people and a perpetual record of yesterday.

Re: Cenotaphs:

Please don't link cenotaphs to their parents or spouse. The links should only be to the actual burial. If you link to both, the person will show as a sibling to themselves.

I have traveled thousands of miles to many states to visit a gravesite, record the GPS location, and photograph the gravestone. Not being the best photographer, I take many photos of the same gravestone for hours, days, months, or even years to get the best picture I can at the time. In this way, I have a chance to revisit the gravesite, check the condition of the gravestone, see if it's still there, etc. Now, when I revisit gravesites, I record the GPS locations of the gravesites and the gravestones.

I, Gary Boughton, permit you to use any photo I have taken. Please add the date & GPS location with my name, which adds provenance to the image. Findagrave has a bad habit of moving gravesites to a different cemetery, not where the actual gravesite is located. So, by adding the GPS location, you can retain the correct location.

I will not use chalk, shaving cream, brake fluid, or other potentially harmful methods to enhance the inscriptions. Please do not use these on any photo requests I make; thank you so very much.

Although FINDAGRAVE can be very useful for genealogy, as the name implies, it is a grave registration site, not a genealogy site. I try to use this as my guide when on this site.

This is why I will NOT add a link to a burial-unknown memorial; I am still actively looking for the person's burial location. This site is named Find a GRAVE for a reason.

Findagrave Memorial Naming Conventions

If a hyphen or an apostrophe is part of the name, use the punctuation.

Use a period after names where only an initial is known. If the full name is known, use the full name and not the initial.

Do not use any other punctuation within any Name Field.

Do not use Full capitalization (ALL-CAPS) of names in any Name Field.

Suffixes and Prefixes do not belong in any Name Field.
